ESTIMATED READING TIME [2 minutes 24 seconds]
She stormed out…
She doubted me…
My belief slipped…
I cried as I watched her drive away
She was feeling the pressure of living with an entrepreneur
Of supporting us…
We were on 1 income…
We had 2 young children
And here I am, 4 months into my new coaching business.
I had been working hard for 4 months… Up at 6 am and bed at 12 pm…
Income was yo-yoing.
I had a few clients on but it was nowhere near matching the income I was producing before…
… I jumped out of the rocket and decided to build a parachute on the way down.
And I had been in this position before,
The pressure was mounting.
Feeling like I was hurting the family.
And in the past, I had turned back to the ways I could easily make money…
Relying on my other skillsets learned from taking risks when I didn’t have this level of responsibility.
But this time, it was different…
I had a vision, I had clarity and I was certain that this was where I was meant to be…
As I wiped my tears off my cheeks,
The image of a man quitting, one swing away from hitting gold, flashed in my mind…
At that moment, my belief skyrocketed.
No way was I going to quit…
I knew all I had to do was to keep swinging that pick in the current vicinity.
Taking one chunk of dirt away at a time…
… and I would hit gold.
Exactly 12 days later, I broke through…
Because I held true to my vision on the inside –
– And
I didn’t cave to the frustrations, pressures, and opinions of those on the outside. (Even though I could have easily done it)
Here’s the thing…
As an entrepreneur, business owner, or founder, if you don’t have certainty and clarity of vision and a deep belief in yourself…
…the emotions, the doubts, the fears, the worries of those people around you will erode the belief you have…
In yourself, In your ideas, in your business, in your vision.
As those with the most certainty always have the greatest influence.
And so, if their doubts, fears, worries and concerns have greater certainty than you do… You will be influenced by them and, eventually, give up.
