One of the biggest traps most coaches get caught in…
And it seems really counterintuitive is this:
So many of us have a huge value on learning.
We love the courses.
The books.
The trainings.
The certifications.
Anything that helps us grow in our expertise.
But here’s the thing…
The very thing you believe is helping you grow might actually be keeping you stuck.
Learning for the sake of learning can become very self-focused.
At some stage, we’ve got to integrate what we’ve learnt and then share it with others.
That’s how we become an expert.
It’s in the doing and the integration of the work that we develop our skills as an expert.
It’s when we get those real-life coaching experiences, when we see the dynamic play out over and over again.
You might think you need to learn more, study more, get more equipped with what you know.
But what happens if, in order to own your expertise, the very thing you need to do is actually stop learning?
Stop learning… and start doing.
Start integrating what you know.
Start applying what you know within and then go out into the world.
Because it’s the application that makes us effective.
The integration of the work and living the work that we teach.
That’s what actually creates mastery.
