There is an interesting stage that happens in people’s personal development.
One that I have been through,
I started looking inward to develop myself for two reasons,
- I had a calling inside of me that I was meant to be greater than who I was…
- I didn’t like how I felt…
And I knew these were challenges to manage and solve within me,
Not outside of me.
On that journey, I came to realise that my success would be a reflection of who I was and how I was being.
And I would know this by being inspired.
And so success meant that I would be living what I love, feeling inspired and making money doing so.
(Which I am blessed enough to have created after 10 years of working on it)
But lurking under this idea,
A belief was created,
It limited me from stepping fully into my authenticity and creating my version of success.
I call it the inspiration trap,
It was the belief that feeling inspired was needed to act,
And if you are not inspired to do so,
Then you don’t.
Because inspiration was the key to your success, building a business and a life that you loved.
But
It leaves you avoiding the discomfort required for growth,
And betraying your authentic self and success,
For ease and comfort.
When I realised I had fallen into this trap,
That ease and comfort had become the norm,
And inspiration had become my excuse.
I changed the way I thought about inspiration,
That it wasn’t something that you waited for
It was something that you could cultivate,
By taking the action,
That leads to energy, confidence and the belief,
That cultivated and brought forward inspiration.
And so inspiration was no longer the action deciding factor,
Which meant that I now had my entire spectrum of feelings to be utilised,
To act from.
Their energy to be focused and leveraged,
And directed into what’s meaningful,
Which means that no matter how you feel,
You can consistently be moving yourself towards your authentic self and into inspiration,
Then, we find that all our emotions are equally valuable to drive us into action,
And into a life that reflects our authentic self and our version of success.
If we try to do it the other way,
Where we let feeling inspired initiate our actions,
We limit ourselves to a tiny spectrum of potential to take action,
And that leads to very little being done,
Very few opportunities for new actions,
And not much opportunity for growth.
If you want to dive deeper into this,
Here is the 10-minute training I did on this topic.
Until next time,
